Comedy duo, Hamish & Andy head out to sea with Carnival

They travelled across Europe and South America, ticked off Asia and spent time in the UK, now it's time for Hamish & Andy to conquer the big blue.

They travelled across Europe and South America, ticked off Asia and spent time in the UK, now it’s time for Hamish & Andy to conquer the big blue.

The comedy duo are heading out to sea next month to broadcast live from Carnival Cruise Line‘s Carnival Spirit, and they’re taking 110 listeners with them.

Dubbed ‘The People Cruise’, the arrangement will see the comedians and their guests experience the ship’s many activities as it takes from Sydney to Vanuatu.

The live shows on Carnival Spirit will include one from Sydney Harbour, three days at sea and another anchored off Vanuatu’s uninhabited Mystery Island.

We all know at-sea Wi-Fi can be a little tricky, so can you imagine how this will play out for radio? Carnival says it will require rigorous testing of the ship’s satellite capabilities but a recent upgrade to the ship’s Internet should allow the live broadcast to go to air from remote destinations.

Carnival Cruise Line Vice President Australia Jennifer Vandekreeke said she was looking forward to having Hamish and Andy onboard and sharing all of Carnival Spirit’s fun attributes with their nationwide audience.

“We’re all about fun, free-spirited holidays for social, outgoing holidaymakers – people like Hamish and Andy and their listeners, who don’t take themselves too seriously and are always up for a laugh and some fun.”

“We’ve never attempted anything as ambitious as this live broadcast and can’t wait to see what fun we’ll get up to with the lads.

“We’re expecting Green Thunder to get a good work out for a start.”

Hamish & Andy said they were most looking forward to Carnival Spirit’s dive-in cinema, mini golf, Green Thunder waterslide, the Punchline Comedy Club and free 24-hour pizza and ice cream.
