Brand USA director Australia and New Zealand Matt Fletcher described it as a “unique” contest.

“We hope this will be an effective way to grow Australia and New Zealand agents’ knowledge of the diversity of USA destinations while raising awareness of American Airlines’ All American Fare,” he said.

The multi-city air pass has been designed to enable agents to “easily” book multi-city US itineraries, encouraging travellers to venture beyond the gateways, AA marketing manager Laura Evans explained.

“With the air pass being unique to the market and closely following the launch of our new 787-9 Dreamliner and Premium Economy product, it’s a really exciting time for us at the moment,” she said.

So what do agents need to do to be in the running?

They need to come up with their dream three-week US itinerary and be able to provide reasoning behind each choice of destination, accommodation and activity. Their choices will be judged on accuracy, creativity and ingenuity.

Then, five finalists will be invited to attend an event in Sydney, along with their packed suitcases and a travel buddy.

There, they will compete to come out on top with the overall winner and their friend to jet off the following day aboard an AA 787-9 Dreamliner flight, for a dream trip to Los Angeles, Las Vegas and New Orleans. The four runners up will also receive return Premium economy flights from SYD-LAX, to be redeemed before March 2019.

The competition is now live, with entries closing on March 14.
