1. Tourism Fiji appoints CEO

Mr Mathew Stoeckel signs his contract with Minister for Tourism at Tourism Fiji Head Office.

Tourism Fiji has announced Mr Matthew Stoeckel as its Chief Executive Officer.

Mr Stoeckel’s appointment was confirmed by the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism (MITT), Honourable Faiyaz Koya and the Permanent Secretary for Tourism, Mr Shaheen Ali at a press conference at Tourism Fiji’s Head Office in Nadi on Tuesday, 21 June.

Mr Stoeckel brings a wealth of experience to the long-anticipated role, having held senior positions in a number of Australian tourism consultancy firms and destination marketing entities. He is also no stranger to Fiji, having consulted with MITT on the Fiji Tourism Development Plan 2014-2020.

Mr Stoeckel will officially begin his role at the National Tourist Office in the coming weeks and more details will follow once he joins the team in Nadi.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director and CEO of Fiji Airways, Mr Andre Viljoen was also formally welcomed as the new Chairman of Tourism Fiji. Mr Viljoen’s appointment was announced to Tourism Fiji’s Board of Directors at their Board Meeting on Thursday, 9 June.

He replaces Tourism Fiji’s outgoing Executive Chairman, Mr Truman Bradley who assumed the role in May 2015. Mr Bradley will now focus on his role as the Chairman of Investments Fiji.

 

2. Small Luxury Hotels of the World appoints new Executive Board

Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ (SLH) announces a new board of directors following the luxury company’s recent announcement of £12 million investment and restructure.

The appointed Executive Board of SLH Limited is as follows:

Filip Boyen, Small Luxury Hotels of the World – Chairman
Shaun Leleu, Small Luxury Hotels of the World Limited

Jérôme Tourbier, Les Sources de Caudalie
Henrik Muehle, Flemings Mayfair
Richard Widman, Wentworth Mansions

Jérôme Tourbier also takes up a new role as President of the new SLH International Advisory Board of Hoteliers (IABH). The appointed President and Vice Presidents of the IABH are as follows:

Jérôme Tourbier, Les Sources de Caudalie – President
Samir Saab, Casas del XVI – Vice President
Rafi Bejerano, The Arch London – Vice President

All other elected and appointed directors have also been transferred onto the new IABH. SLH gives great thanks to Anchalika Kijkanakorn, Aleenta Resort and Spa Phuket who whilst remaining on the IABH, steps down from her role as chairperson of SLH, a role she has held since 2012. Her passion for SLH has seen her become a recognised spokesperson for SLH where she has championed the brand at every opportunity on a global scale. Kijkanakorn has successfully steered SLH through the restructure and refinancing.

 

3. Cover-More appoints Head of Sales for USA & Canada

Cover-More Group has appointed Mark Linton as Head of Sales for USA and Canada.

His appointment follows Cover-More’s announcement that their executive Carole Tokody was relocating to New York as CEO, US & Canada and Global Direct to lead their North America and northern hemisphere expansion.

Mark will report directly to Carole Tokody and will be responsible for the sales of travel insurance and ancillary products and services in the US and Canadian markets.

Mark’s significant experience includes 15 years with RBC Insurance where he managed a national sales team, maintaining and acquiring numerous large national and regional accounts.
