She’s well known across the industry for employing agents, running a multi-award winning business and encouraging others to advance their careers.
She’s penned her own novel and been called upon to inspire others through public speaking.
Now, the nation has acknowledged Penny Spencer’s leadership and business skills by naming her one of Australia’s Top Female Entrepreneurs in 2016.
The owner of Spencer Travel and founder of the Travel Industry Mentor Experience (TIME) was placed at 21 on the list of 30 top female businesswomen across the country.
It’s not a competition, BUT, she beat The Biggest Loser trainer, Michelle Bridges (22), and she wasn’t too far behind the founder of the growing makeup empire, Mecca Cosmetics (16).
She described the recognition as both humbling and complimenting and attributed it to her “just do it” attitude.
“The hardest part is making the decision that you are going to do it [launch a business] – as Nike says Just Do It – which I live by.”
Penny Spencer
“[It felt] amazing to be in such esteemed company – it does show how many successful female entrepreneurs there are making a difference to business.”
Spencer commenced her travel career when she was 19 and went on to launch her first business back in 1998 when she opened the doors to Spencer Travel.
Since, she’s built a successful network of agencies, which employ 50 people a year and turn over more than $60 million in revenue.
She was also the founder of the industry mentoring experience, TIME, and has helped dozens of professionals develop their careers.
Also joining Spencer on the SmartCompany list are Sue Hollis from TravelEdge and Naomi Simson from RedBalloon.
