1. Magellan goes Beyond Slovenia

Stephanie Savage – the owner of the only certified specialist for Slovenia and Croatia in the Australian market and the owner and MD of The Impulse Travel Group – recently escorted a group of senior Magellan Travel Group owners and consultants on a famil to Slovenia and Croatia flying in luxury with Emirates Airways.

After arriving in Venice the group enjoyed a fabulous itinerary that included the scenic spots of Piran, Postojna Caves, Lake Bled, Ljubljana and Zagreb and finished with a four-night cruise from Dubrovnik to Split calling in on the beautiful Dalmatian Coast islands of Korcula, Hvar, Mljet and Bol.

Stephanie commented that: “It was a great group that laughed and enjoyed each other’s company from start to finish while they experienced the beauty spots on Europe’s exquisite face, Slovenia & Croatia.”

 

2. Sydney Airport celebrates Star Alliance 20th anniversary

From reducing connection times to setting new benchmarks for lounges and terminal design, Star Alliance has helped transform the airport experience for international travellers – so it’s only fitting that staff at Australia largest airport should recently mark the Alliance’s 20th anniversary with their own special celebration.

With Sydney Airport adorned in balloons and banners, more than 180 airport-based staff – representing 11 member airlines – gathered together to wish Star Alliance a happy birthday and enjoy some branded cupcakes.

The airport staff also celebrated 20 years of ‘connecting people and cultures’ by giving away balloons and hundreds of packets of colouring pencils – donated by Star Alliance’s chosen charity Jeans for Genes – to young passengers.

 

3. MTA Members get an exclusive look at Mia Resort Vietnam

Four MTA – Mobile Travel Agents Members have jumped at the opportunity to take part in an exclusive study tour of Vietnam to see for themselves just why the destination is attracting so many of their clients in 2017.

The four Members – Fiona Snell, Jennifer McCullough, Jo Gonzalez and Dianne Russo  – visited Vietnam as guests of Mia Resorts Vietnam, staying at the company’s sister properties in Binh Thuan and Na Trang. These included the multi-award winning Mia Resort Mui Ne and Mia Resort Nha Trang.

A busy program at both resorts included an in-depth opportunity to sample first-hand the many attractions both regions offer visitors. Experiences included a host of Mia Resort signature activities ranging from yoga and spa sessions to Vietnamese language lessons and going kitchen-side to learn how to cook the local cuisine.

 

4. Nanuku team hits Sydney

Bringing some South Pacific sunshine to a very damp Sydney this week, Nanuku Auberge Resort Fiji GM, Sascha Hemmann (second from right) and his marketing team.

Part of a whistle stop tour meeting the resort’s industry partners in the Harbour City, this was Mr Hemmann’s first visit to Sydney since his appointment to the role in early May 2017.

 

5. Magellan & its members receive high honours

Last month the Magellan Travel Group, along with some of its corporate members, attended the Uniglobe Global Rendezvous held in the German city of Berlin. Over the two days Magellan further cemented their exclusive pact with Uniglobe, a partnership which is mutually viewed as “a perfect fit”.

Magellan National Manager Corporate and Business Development, Scott Darlow commented that: “Uniglobe offers our members representation, collaboration and partnerships in over 60 countries. It allows us to leverage savings in multiple areas as we access the combined global power of over US $5 billion per annum”.

Darlow went on to say that: “this partnership with Uniglobe further emphasises Magellan’s commitment to our corporate member offering and highlights a key component of our impressive suite of value propositions”.

 

6. APT Travel Group marketers volunteer Melbourne’s Sacred Heart Mission

Members of APT Travel Group’s multi-talented marketing team stepped away from their computes and into the kitchen this week, taking part in a volunteer day at Melbourne’s Sacred Heart Mission Dining Hall.

Craig, Angelique, Marie, Nina, Leanne and Kane ditched advertising deadlines and weekly sales reports in favour of serving meals to disadvantaged Melburnians in the inner city suburb of St Kilda.

Leanne welcomed guests with a warm and friendly smile, giving them their trays, cutlery and salt and pepper. Marie handled the potato bake and parmigiana, while Angelique was a massive hit on the salad bar. Marketing graduate Kane was a great soup ladler until Nina stole his job half way through, while Craig took care of the washing up.

Melbourne’s Sacred Heart Mission Dining Hall serves breakfast and lunch 365 days a year and relies on 20 volunteers each day to help its kitchen staff of four.

 

7. Superb Supertour delights super Agents

20 of Australia’s best Travel Agents have returned to reality after the Globus family of brands’ exciting and indulgent 2017 Supertour came to an end, following 10 days of sightseeing, exciting activities and plenty of wining and dining across Mexico.

The highly anticipated annual expedition, which was based on the Globus ‘Wonders of Mexico’s Yucatan’ itinerary, was rewarded to 2016 top sellers of Globus, Cosmos, Avalon Waterways and Monograms holidays.

Highlights included: visiting the enormous pyramid inside the Mayan site of Ek’ Balam; watching the flamingos in Rio Lagartos; and wandering amongst the incredible architecture of San Francisco de Campeche.
