1. SPOTTED… getting a taste of Hong Kong

18 Helloworld and affiliated Agents were recently rewarded for their ongoing support this year at two “Appreciation Yum Cha” events, hosted by Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) and Cathay Pacific Airways.

Whilst indulging in a Chinese banquet at Sky Phoenix Chinese Restaurant and Star Capital Seafood Restaurant, agents from across New South Wales were updated on the vast new developments and events planned for Hong Kong in 2018 and their latest marketing campaign, Hong Kong Great Outdoors‘s, which was launched earlier this month.

HKTB Manager, trade marketing and business tourism Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Lisa Lee said Travel Agents continue to play a vital role in the HKTB’s overall destination marketing strategy.

 

2. SPOTTED… come near face-to-face with a rhino

Six Agents, along with a Bench Africa representative journeyed through Kenya to experience the abundant wildlife and adventure on one of Bench Africa’s best selling tours – Kenya Highlights .

The highlights on the trip included visiting the Masai Mara Game Reserve – boasting the largest concentration of animals in Africa, Samburu – home to lions, leopards and the rare reticulated giraffe and Lake Nakuru National Park – famous for its birdlife.

The group were lucky enough to be offered the opportunity to get up close and personal to an adult black rhino. Baraka became the rhino ambassador at Ol Pejeta Conservancy when he unfortunately went blind and had to be taken in.

The group had an enriching cultural experience at a Masai village and also witnessed a near kill when, on a game drive, a leopard dashed past them after an impala.

 

3. SPOTTED… exploring the best of Hobart

Seven lucky Helloworld Travel network agents recently enjoyed a two-night Pre-Conference famil in Hobart ahead of the 2017 Helloworld Travel Frontliners conference in the same city.

Including a day tour of the historic Port Arthur site and beautiful surrounding areas and a fabulous ‘Hobart City Paddle’ – a sea kayaking adventure with the uniquely unexpected experience of enjoying Hobart’s classic fish and chips whilst on the water in the beautiful port of Hobart.

The Agents were also hosted at the Hotel Grand Chancellor for canapes and champagne and at a dinner at Hadleys Hotel thanks to Qantas.

Overall the Agents were thrilled with their Tassie experience, and thanks to Helloworld Travel wholesale brands for making it possible.

 

4. SPOTTED… delving into a Northern California extravaganza

Hosted by Alexandra Sparr from Sonoma County Tourism, Yosemite/Mariposa County Tourism and San Francisco Travel, along with co-host Ian Dart from United Airlines, a lucky group of five product and marketing team members enjoyed a trip to each of these amazing destinations.

Highlights include hiking in the redwood forests of Sonoma County followed by wine tasting at Korbel, visiting Yosemite National Park, zip lining in Mariposa and experiencing a behind the scenes tour of San Francisco’s AT&T Park, where the Rugby Sevens World Cup will be hosted in July 2018.

The focus for all three destinations was to showcase new product for the Australian market.

 

5. SPOTTED… saying bonjour at Frontliners

New Caledonia Tourism (NCTPS) hosted an experiential booth at the Helloworld Frontliners Forum in Hobart this week, providing Helloworld consultants with key destination news and developments for 2018 as well as a unique virtual reality (VR) experience.

NCTPS engaged Agents through their distinctive VR experience which allowed them to virtually experience the destination’s different regions and their natural beauty, its lagoon and the diverse range of outdoor and cultural activities on offer. The NCTPS team also shared news highlights for 2018 including the 10-year anniversary of the naming of New Caledonia’s lagoon as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

NCTPS also partnered with Aircalin, New Caledonia’s international airline, to provide a prize for one lucky agent to experience the destination firsthand: two return flights with Aircalin and two nights’ accommodation at Hotel Le Lagon in Nouméa. Kym Stracey from Northshore Travel in Gordon was the recipient of the prize.

 

6. SPOTTED… taking a wellness journey in Thailand

A selection of Agents were hard at work recently on a Wellness Journey famil to Thailand courtesy of Viva! Holidays in conjunction with Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts and Thai Airways.

The good living gurus from Helloworld Travel networks recently embarked on the program featuring spa treatments, cookery classes and Pilates at Banyan Tree Bangkok and Banyan Tree Phuket. Guests were also treated to a Villa BBQ dinner at Banyan Tree Phuket.

 

7. SPOTTED… having a laugh with P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises feature

Travel Agents were given a first-look at P&O Cruises’ ‘The Big Laugh’ – the biggest comedy festival at sea – ahead of its launch onboard Pacific Explorer in June 2018.

Fourteen big-name comics including Jimeoin, Matt Okine, the Scared Weird Little Guys and Dave Callan will deliver 36 shows and a combined 2,000 minutes of jokes at the jam-packed four night festival departing Sydney on June 20, 2018.

The announcement comes as P&O Cruises launch its biggest ever season of comedy comprising 72
dedicated comedy cruises in 2018 and 2019, including Dave Hughes, Harley Breen and Claire Hooper.

In 2019 the laughs will continue with the largest number of dedicated comedy cruises in P&O history
and 38 itineraries running from January to October.
