Mantra Group appoints Stephen Hobson as CFO

In exciting news, Stephen Hobson (formerly of the CFO and Transformation Executive at Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Australia) has been appointed as the new CFO for Mantra Group and will begin his new role in mid-Feb next year.

Stephen has more than 20 years of senior financial management, commercial and operational experience, holding executive roles in well recognised global industries mainly in hospitality, tourism and travel sectors.

For example, Hobson has held senior roles at TAL Life, Qantas Airways and Lend Lease Corporation – where his responsibilities included the design and implementation of strategic business and corporate finance transformation initiatives and programs across all business sectors delivering improved capabilities and processes to support ongoing growth.

Mantra Group CEO Bob East said “I am delighted to welcome Stephen to the Mantra team. Stephen’s technical skills, experience and expertise particularly in the global hospitality and travel sectors are well suited to Mantra Group and I am certain Stephen will make a significant contribution to the Group.”

Bob East thanked Kevan Funnell, Mantra Group’s Executive Director Finance, for his efforts in fulfilling the role of Acting CFO since August 2016. Kevan will continue as Acting CFO until Stephen joins the Group.

 

Hans Belle joins AAT Kings as new MD

Former Sabre executive, Hans Belle, will join The Travel Corporation in the capacity of AAT Kings’ new managing director starting in late January 2017, according to Travel Daily.

Belle has spent the last 20 years with Sabre Pacific and Sabre Holdings where he was previously Vice President and General Manager Asia Pacific.

“Following an extensive search we are delighted to welcome Hans Belle into the TTC family,” said TTC Australia ceo John Veitch.

“With three decades of travel industry experience Hans demonstrated excellent credentials for this role with his exceptional leadership skills, strong international expertise and impressive commercial abilities,” Veitch said.

 

Saffire Freycinet welcomes Todd Adams

Award-winning chef, Todd Adams, took over the reigns at Saffire Freycinet as its new Executive Chef last month, replacing long-standing chef extrodinare, Hugh Whitehouse, who has taken on a new role within the company as Executive Food & Beverage Manager, Federal Group Tourism.

Adams has a wealth of experience and culinary adventures from all over the globe behind him, and is known for his integrity and passion for quality local produce.

Having gained experience working internationally earlier on in his career, Todd’s latest work has seen him at various establishments in Brisbane and Melbourne, including Epicure at Brisbane City Hall, Stokehouse Q Brisbane, Urbane Restaurant, Euro Brasserie, Lamaro’s Restaurant & Bar, Taxi Dining Room and Vanitas and Vie Restaurants by Palazzo Versace.

Most recently, Todd played a significant role in the opening of Next Hotel Brisbane, by Silver Needle Hospitality, where he was engaged as the Executive Chef of the property.

Recently named the Best Overall Boutique Hotel in the World at the World Boutique Hotel Awards and the Top Luxury Hotel in Australia by TripAdvisor, Saffire Freycinet is part of Tasmania’s Federal Group and has become an iconic statement of luxury that has taken the state’s tourism to a new level.
