Heathrow Airport has decided to cancel some 80 flights out of the 1,350 scheduled to depart today in preparation of snowfall in London.
The preemptive decision was made to reduce the flight schedule and allow carriers to move passengers onto un-allocated seats ahead of time.
In an online statement, the gateway said it will be adjusting its schedule along with other European gateways in anticipation of further snow over the coming days.
Among the cancelled services today were several American Airlines, British Airways, Turkish Airlines and Qatar Airways flights as well as a few Cathay Pacific services.
“Wintry weather is forecast at Heathrow and across the UK and airlines will be adjusting their schedule as a result.”

The gateway has recommended travellers check the status of their flight with their airline before departing for the gateway.
“If you are travelling, check the status of your flight with your airline and please allow extra time for your journey to the airport,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, Londoners have started posting their pics of a snow-covered London on Twitter and the images are amazing.
