A man couldn’t afford flights for his 2-yr-old, so a generous stranger paid for it

Kindness among strangers still very much exists, or at least it did this month when a traveller offered to cover the cost a man's flights because he couldn't afford it.

Kindness among strangers still very much exists, or at least it did this month when a traveller offered to cover the cost a man’s flights because he couldn’t afford it.

According to a Facebook post published by Love What Matters, the man was checking-in with his young daughter at an undisclosed airport when he became panicked.

He’d apparently just learned that he required a ticket for his daughter who had only just celebrated her second birthday two months earlier.

Witnesses say they overheard him explaining to staff that he wasn’t aware she needed a ticket and that he couldn’t afford to purchase one for her.

“The man was confused because he was under the impression she could ride for free,” the post reads.

“He was hit with emotion. He mentioned he couldn’t afford to rebook this flight or get her the ticket with such short notice.”

The witness continued, saying the man then stepped aside to make a few phone calls when the woman behind him approached the counter and asked airline staff about the situation.

After hearing his story, she briefly spoke to the man and returned to the counter. It was then that she surprised everyone around her by pulling out her credit card and saying “I want to buy her ticket”.

We imagine the airline employee’s mouth would have dropped at this point, especially after explaining the ticket would cost around US$749, to which the woman responded with “that’s fine”.

According to the post, the man asked the woman for her name so that he could repay her, but she just kept saying “don’t worry about it”.

Although the woman wanted to remain anonymous, a few Facebook users commented on the post and identified her as the head of the environmentally friendly cleaning and home products provider, Norwex.

They described her as a generous woman who “definitely doesn’t do this for the accolades”.
