Queensland’s capital, Brisbane, received its first direct connection to China’s capital, Beijing, thanks to new services launched by Air China this week.

Air China’s four-times weekly service is a huge win for Brisbane tourism, as it gives some 21.5 million people living in Beijing non-stop access to the Australian city.

Tourism and Events Queensland’s Chief Executive, Leanne Coddington, is thrilled about the new service, saying she expects it to deliver around 170,000 Chinese tourists to the city over the next four years.

“This represents a major milestone for the state of Queensland.”

Operating on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, the service CA795 departs Beijing at 2.30am to arrive in Brisbane at 3.10pm, and the return CA796 will depart Brisbane at 7.30pm to arrive in Beijing at 4.45am.

All flights will be operated on the airline’s A330-200 aircraft and will conveniently connect Chinese tourists to the city along with other Queensland hot spots such as the Gold Coast and Whitsundays.

Air China’s Vice President, Xulun Hou, said Brisbane is an important part of the airline’s global expansion plans and improvement of links between China and Australia as the third Australian city for the carrier after Sydney and Melbourne.
