Air New Zealand is flying high and sharing the love

It’s been an eventful couple of days for Air New Zealand, with the airline  recognised for its innovation, and then slashing prices on hundreds of seats to the Taranaki region early this morning.

The cheap seats are a response to Lonely Planet naming Taranaki as one of the world’s top 10 regions to visit in 2017.

But first the awards.

Air New Zealand has been recognised at the prestigious Air Passenger Experience (APEX) Awards held in Singapore recently for its innovation, scooping Best Inflight Entertainment Innovation for its inflight entertainment system, and Best Personalisation Innovation for personalising the experience for Airpoints™ loyalty members onboard.

According to Air New Zealand’s Chief Digital Officer, Avi Golan, the airline is forever looking to technology to enhance the flying experience for its customers.

“It’s incredibly exciting to win these awards. By focusing on data smarts, technology enablement and really scrutinising the customer experience inflight, we have transformed what was a traditional inflight entertainment system into a world-class, digital entertainment channel and a vital tool for engaging with our customers.”

Air New Zealand’s award-winning in-flight entertainment system was first installed on the revolutionary Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, and has been progressively rolled out across the airline’s international fleet.

And now to the cheap seats.

Earlier this morning, Air New Zealand cut prices on airfares flying to New Plymouth, the gateway to the Taranaki region, to as little as $39 one-way, after the region was placed second in Lonely Planet’s ‘Best in Travel’ guidebooks’ top 10.

Air New Zealand Regional Affairs Manager Ian Collier says that having Lonely Planet endorse Taranaki as a must see destination will be a great boost to inbound tourism whether it’s overseas visitors or Kiwis wanting to explore their own backyard.
