Cebu Pacific adds services from Sydney

Lonely Planet’s top destination is becoming even more accessible to Australian travellers, with additional services flying into the Philippines.

Lonely Planet’s top destination is becoming even more accessible to Australian travellers, with additional services flying into the Philippines.

Cebu Pacific Air announced this week that it would increase flights between Sydney and Manila from four to five times weekly.

The announcement comes six months after the airline kicked off services between the two destinations.

The new service will see an additional 436 seats added on the route, with guests flying on the A330-300.

The airline’s general manager of long-haul operations said increased frequency is a demonstration of the airline’s ongoing commitment to make travel to the Philippines easier and more affordable.

“With our network and trademark low fares, it is now easier for Australians to discover one of the most sought out destinations of 2015 and experience all that the Philippines has to offer – from stunning beaches to great shopping, and delectable food to fun nightlife.”

Earlier this year, Lonely Planet voted the Philippines as one of 2015’s must visit destinations in its Best in Travel 2015 list.

Although it hasn’t quite reached Thailand and Bali’s reach amongst Australian travellers, the Philippines is attracting more of Australia’s outbound market.

Last year, 158,000 Aussies visited the Philippines, up from 142,000 the prior year.

To stimulate further travel, Cebu Pacific Air is holding a seat sale from Sydney to Manila until 13 December 2014.

Fares from $249 a seat and are available for travel from 1 January to 31 March 2015.

There’s also tickets going from $149 a seat for travel from 1 June to 30 September 2015.
