Emirates served HOW MANY meals in 2015?

My, my it was a big year for Emirates, with the airline ticking off a number of milestones from carrying more passengers and feeding more hungry bellies than ever before.

According to the airline’s latest figures, Emirates carried an incredible 51.3 million passengers – nine percent more than the previous year.

Around 3,600 flights were operated by the Dubai-based carrier PER WEEK, or a total of 186,000 flights over the 12 months.

But that’s not even the impressive part.

Emirates serviced some 57 million meals on its flight departing from Dubai! Dude, that’s like feeding Australia, TWICE!

With the increase in passengers, it also meant the airline was handling more baggage, with some 35 million pieces of baggage lugged on and off the aircraft in Dubai alone.

And when it comes to travelling around the globe, Emirates covered more than 824 million kilometers around the globe – the equivalent of more than 1,000 trips to the moon and back – yowza!

Emirates’ President, Sir Tim Clark, described 2015 as one of growth for the airline as a result of focus, strength and smarts.

“We continued to steer our course despite the headwinds of regional conflict, unfavourable currency impact, and shaky business and consumer confidence in many global markets.”
