United Airlines is joining the likes of Qantas and Cathay Pacific by drastically upgrading its Club Lounges, including the one at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) which will turn into a luxurious space of comfort, gourmet food and sophistication.

And the carrier is giving the world an idea of what to expect through first pics released this week.

One of the biggest changes is that it’s going to be drastically larger compared to the current Club Lounge, with about 20,000 square feet reserved for the new bar, sitting areas and working stations.

There’s also going to be a gourmet kitchen, which will provide customers with a wide variety of food options between meals – great idea considering LAX’s $573 million upgrade to deliver a superior experience, particularly in the food and beverages department.

And for those who want that fresh air before boarding a long haul international flight, the Club Lounge will have an outdoor seating area where guests can both eat, relax or work.

The new LAX United Club is expected to open on 6 December 2016 and is in line with the airline’s United Polaris business product, which goes live today.

The Polaris business class product is being installed in the carrier’s fleet of  787’s, A350’s and B777’s and gives all business passengers aisle access and new seats designed by London design firm Acumen.
