Flying from Melbourne to London with Royal Brunei Airlines is about to become a lot faster, with the carrier soon to launch a one-stop, daily service from Melbourne to London Heathrow, replacing the current two-stop flight that goes via Brunei and Dubai.
The new flight schedule, which removes the Dubai stop, starts from 28 October and will cut the round trip travel time from Melbourne to London by 5.3 hours.
“The introduction of RB’s non-stop flight to London Heathrow will be a significant milestone as for the first time Brunei and England will be seamlessly connected by a direct air link,” Royal Brunei’s Chief Executive Officer Karam Chand said.
The new flights do, however, mean the airline will cease its Dubai-London service.
“The through flight via Dubai has served us well however with the demand for more direct routing from our guests, it becomes an important commercial imperative to provide that.”
Royal Brunei’s Chief Executive Officer Karam Chand.
Royal Brunei says it will still continue a four times weekly Brunei to Dubai route from October 29.
The changes also mean that the carrier can update its schedule for its Melbourne flights to cater for better connections within its long-haul route network. These new times are still subject to slot clearances and government approvals.
The new flights will be operated by a B787 Dreamliner with Business and Economy class seats.
The service will depart Brunei at 0015 and arrive at 0650 local time, with return flights leaving London at 1705 and landing at 1440 the following day.
Karam Chand said the 14-hour flight from Brunei to London would have “the very best in inflight service, entertainment and guest friendly features of B787 Dreamliner such as lower cabin altitude, less noise and turbulence to help reduce jet lag”.
He advised passengers to keep an eye out for more product and service innovations to be announced later in the year.
