Qantas’ has maintained its title as the ‘World’s Safest Airline’ for another year thanks to its impressive record and high safety standards.
The Flying Kangaroo beat its trans-Tasman competitor, Air New Zealand, for the top spot in AirlineRatings’com’s list of 20 safest carriers.
According to the website, some 407 airlines were reviewed by its editorial team who ranked carriers based on their history, incident records and operational excellence.
Around 148 airlines received the seven-star safety ranking, while a little less than 50 were handed three stars or less. Ten airlines from Indonesia, Nepal and Surinam were given a one star rating.
AirlineRatings.com’s editors said Qantas outranked other carriers because over its 95-year history it has been a leader in a number of safety procedures, including the introduction of real time monitoring of its engines to detect problems before they become a safety issue.
“[Qantas] has amassed an extraordinary record of firsts in operations and safety and is now accepted as the industry’s most experienced carrier.”
