Rome2rio recently analysed airline prices for some 200 international carriers to determine which offered guests the best value for money, and found a low-cost carrier (unsurprisingly) ruled over the rest.

That airline is… AirAsia X.

AirAsia feature

According to the travel search engine’s Global Flight Price ranking report, AirAsiaX offers the world’s cheapest Economy Class tickets.

The Malaysian carrier bested fellow low-cost subsidiaries such as Air India Express (2nd), Indonesia AirAsia (3rd), Primera Air (4th) and IndiGo Airlines (5th) for the top spot.

Etihad Airways - Economy Class Products

Meanwhile, Etihad Airways was the first full-service carrier to appear on the list at number six, ahead of Australia’s very own Qantas, which was named eighth best for value and Virgin Australia which ranked at number 10.

Despite often having the cheapest fares around Australia, Qantas’ subsidiary Jetstar, was named 22nd cheapest airline, ahead of Gulf Air Bahrain (23rd), Cebu Pacific (24th) and Emirates (25th).
