Singapore Airlines has announced a new route out of Sydney, which will take Sydneysiders to Indonesia before flying onward to Singapore.
Commencing in November, the Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney service will operate three times weekly on a Boeing 777-200ER, giving Australians 271 extra seats to and from Southeast Asia.
According to Singapore Airlines’ Regional Vice President South West Pacific, Tan Tiow Kor, the new route meets strong passenger demand from Australia.
In addition to adding 84,000 seats annually from Australia and increasing Singapore Airlines’ flights to Sydney from 31 to 34 per week, the new flights will also help meet Indonesia’s plans to get more Australians to visit beyond Bali.

Singapore Airlines’ Boeing 777-200ER is fitted with 26 Business Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout as well as 245 Economy seats in a 3-3-3 layout.
Sydney Airport’s Managing Director and Chief Executive, Kerrie Mather, said the new service is good news for the airline, as it will support investment between Indonesia and Australia, as well as strengthen trade links.
The new Singapore-Jakarta-Sydney route will be served three times per week, departing Sydney on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday at 11:00 landing in Jakarta 14:35. Flights will then depart Jakarta at 15:35 and arrive in Singapore at 18:10. (All times stated are local).
Flights from Singapore will operate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday departing Singapore at 20:15, arriving in Jakarta at 21:00. Onward flights from Jakarta to Sydney will depart at 22:25 and arrive at 09:30 the next day. (All times stated are local).
