'Stand up, speak out!' Virgin Australia fights for women's safety in Australia

Did you know, that one in three Australian women have experienced physical or sexual violence by someone she knows?

Or that according to White Ribbon Australia, one in four Australian children is exposed to domestic violence?

If those figures aren’t scary enough, how about that in a year, on average one Australian woman will be killed EVERY WEEK as a result of initiate partner violence?

One woman, every week!

The number of women and children suffering as a result of domestic violence in Australia is shockingly high, which is why Virgin Australia has teamed up with White Ribbon for a third year to raise awareness of the issue during November.

Throughout the month, Virgin Australia guests will see messages of equality and empowerment on the back of boarding passes designed to encourage people to stand up, speak out and prevent men’s violence against women.

Voyeur, the carrier’s inflight magazine, will feature a White Ribbon on the cover and the airline will be conducting fundraising initiatives throughout their offices and selected airports around Australia.

White Ribbon Australia Chief Executive, Libby Davies, said corporate partnerships are “critical to driving violence prevention across the community”.

White Ribbon is the world’s largest movement of men and boys working to end men’s violence against women and girls, promote gender equality, healthy relationships and a new vision of masculinity.
