The Australian government has issued a warning for Aussies to be cautious of a new airline email scam claiming to have come from Qantas.

The fake emails are offering rewards of cash and frequent flyer points for participating in a survey.

An update from the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) said the emails look similar to the real Qantas email, however, the subject line reads: ‘Customer Satisfaction Survey, Earn up to 95 AUD Plus 1,000 bonus Qantas Points’.

The email even features Christopher Walken, who signed up to promote Qantas Assure Health Insurance in April last year.

It’s believed that the fake survey aims to steal personal information, including email address, password as well as contact information and bank account details.

The fake survey form is cunningly crafted and is a reminder to be vigilant about keeping your personal information safe and secure – if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!”
