Relax at an airport lounge in Brisbane without being an airline loyalty member

That’s the dream (for those who high tier members of a frequent flyers club) and the Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has made it a reality at another Australia gateway.

PPG along with Brisbane Airport Corporation last month welcomed the gateway’s first Plaza Premium Lounge where visitors have access to world-class service without having to build up their flyers points first.

Unlike your average airline lounge, travellers can pay to enter the independent lounge, with a basic lounge package starting from around $66 for five hours.

Pretty freaking cheap!

Or if you’re an eligible credit card holder and selected lounge access programme member, you’ll get complimentary access to the lounge.

The first independent lounge in Australia was announced back in June this year, but didn’t officially welcome its first guests until last week.

Available for use from 5am and 11pm daily, the space is located on level 4 at Brisbane Airport (between departure gates 81 and 82) and spans over 4,500-square-feet with a seating capacity of over 100.

Aside from enjoying the Mitchel Squires & Associates design, visitors will have access to generous views of the runway, complimentary Wi-Fi, a multitude of electrical outlets, a live cooking station for fresh food, a salad bar, alcoholic beverages or freshly-brewed barista-made coffee.

Lord Mayor of Brisbane, Councillor Graham Quirk, said it was a “great coup” for the city to be the first in Australia to receive a Plaza Premium Lounge and believes it reflects the “growing international profile” as record numbers visit the destination.

“For this reason, we believe it’s a great vote of confidence in our city and we look forward to Brisbane Airport visitors being provided with world-class service through this new venture.”

PPG Founder and CEO, Song Hoi-see, added that the lounge would set a new standard for premium airport services in the region.

“This newly introduced facility will provide comfort, convenience and award-winning services to all travellers through Brisbane Airport, regardless of their airline or class of travel,” he said.
