Virgin Australia 'races' through its newest safety video

Virgin Australia is tapping into Australia’s love of sports, specifically race cars, to promote inflight safety in its newest safety video.

Released this week, the five-and-a-half minute clip recruits Supercars driver, Jamie Whincup, for a race around Australia’s famous Mt Panorama racetrack.

The clip opens with a flight attendant taking up Jamie on a challenge – that he can complete a lap around Mt Panorama before she finishes the safety briefing.

As he speeds off, fellow flight attendants utilise race cars, race car stops and even veteran Virgin Australia Captain Bradley Clarke to show passengers how to store their luggage away properly, what to do in emergency situations and why they should never smoke on board.

The video also features Supercars drivers Mark Winterbottom and Rick Kelly, who competed in the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 around Mt Panorama in October.

Virgin Australia Airlines Group Executive John Thomas said Virgin Australia and Supercars are both “high performance, safety-led organisations”, which makes them the ideal partners in delivering an on board safety message.

“We believe our guests will find the new safety video both entertaining and informative.”
