Easter strikes to hit air & cruise passengers

Cruise passengers have been warned that they too could be hit by strikes over the Easter holiday period as customs workers take part in industrial action at Sydney's OPT.

Cruise passengers have been warned that they too could be hit by strikes over the Easter holiday period as customs workers take part in industrial action at Sydney’s OPT.

Strikes will be held by employees of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection at various international airport and cruise terminals.

Walk outs commence today at gateways in Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and South Australia and is split between day and night.

Tomorrow,workers will walk out in Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia, Northern Territory and South Australia.

The day before Good Friday all departmental work sites in Australia will stop working for 24 hours, including those at international airports and cruise ship terminals.

On Good Friday, strikes will be held at Sydney Airport, Melbourne International Airport, Brisbane International Airport, Cairns International Airport, Coolangatta Airport, Darwin Airport, Adelaide Airport and Perth Airport from midnight to 8am and 4pm to midnight on 25 March. Sydney’s Overseas Passenger Terminal will also be closed from midnight to 6pm.
