Take a look at Royal Caribbean's new ship

Cruise fans can get a glimpse of Royal Caribbean’s forthcoming ship, Anthem of the Seas, as she sailed out of the shipyard over the weekend.

The 4,180-passenger vessel is the line’s second Quantum-class ship – a class of vessels that have been dubbed ‘smart ships‘ due to their advanced onboard technology.

The first Quantum-class vessel – Quantum of the Seas – launched in October last year with robot bar tenders, dancing robots and the ‘North Star’ – an observation tower located at the back of the ship that lifts guests 300 feet above sea level for 360-degree views.

Much like her sister ship, Anthem of the Seas will have a total of 2,090 staterooms – 1,570 will be balcony staterooms, 147 ocean-view staterooms and 373 inside cabins.

Anthem Virtual Cabins

Quantum-class ships have Virtual views of the sea.

All interior staterooms have a floor-to-ceiling 80-inch high-definition TV screen showing live views from the outside of the ship – this way all passengers have a view despite the location of their stateroom.

Rooms on Quantum-class ships are also larger than any other in the Royal Caribbean fleet – measuring nine percent larger than those on the Oasis-class vessels.

Anthem iFly

Quantum-class ships are the first to have sky diving at sea.

True to Royal Caribbean nature, Anthem of the Seas will be jam packed with onboard entertainment such as the RipCord by iFly – a skydiving simulator; a sports deck; and a pool with a large video screen.

Travellers will also get a few kicks out of the SeaPlex, which is a large indoor gym with a full-size basketball court that can be converted into a dance floor, flying trapeze school, roller-skating rink or bumper car ride.

H20 Zone

The H20 Zone kids is a water park featuring the first wave pool on a cruise ship.

For the kids, Anthem of the Seas will have the H20 Zone kids – a water park featuring the first wave pool on a cruise ship. There’s also Royal Caribbean’s DreamWorks experience featuring characters from movies like Shrek and Madagascar.

When it comes to dining, the vessel has a variety of options from Jamie’s Kitchen – Jamie Oliver’s first restaurant at sea; American Icon Grill – an American comfort food restaurant; Silk – serving Pan-Asian fusion dishes; and there’s Wonderland Imaginative Cuisine, which serves unique dishes.

Jamie's Italian

Anthem and Quantum both house Jamie’s Italian – Jamie Oliver’s first restaurant at sea.

Anthem of the Seas is scheduled to launch in April this year and will be home ported in Southampton before heading to Cape Liberty in New Jersey where she will sail to the Bahamas.

While Royal Caribbean selected Broadway star Kristin Chenoweth to bless Quantum of the Seas, the cruise line has decided Anthem’s godmother will be a travel agent.

A campaign called ‘A Godmother Like No Other. Could It Be You?’ has launched in the UK for agents to apply for the honoured title.

But there’s a catch – the winning agent will need to be able to sing.
