Some time has passed (six months specifically) since we last heard from Sir Richard Branson and his cruise line targeting over 18 ‘virgin’ cruisers, but we finally have an update & it’s going to tempt you into book a trip.
Virgin Voyages released nearly two dozen renderings of the line’s first vessel (temporarily named Virgin I) this week, with the aim of showcasing how it will ‘shake up the cruise industry’ when it officially launches in 2020.
No really, Branson is so set on ‘shaking things up’, he’s hired a group of designers who have NEVER been on a cruise.
Talk about untainted perspective.
Designers, including London-based Tom Dixon, said that the project is “quite risky” but also understandable because if you’re “going to encourage a new demographic to cruise, then why not use designers who’ve never been on one”, The Daily Mail reported.
Fair enough.
So what have they come up with so far?
Well, working with a brief requesting ‘modern romance of sailing’, they’ve designed an exclusive chic outdoor lounge for suite guests…
There’s an upscale Mexican restaurant…
Along with an outdoor lounge area designed with Bali and Ibiza in-mind….
Guests can socialise, drink and dance in the signature nightclub…
Or chill-out in The Athletic Club…
