Indonesia’s government seems to have changed its mind once again as to whether Aussies should be allowed to enter Bali visa-free.
Australians were included in the initial announcement made by the country’s Maritime Affairs Coordinating Minister Indroyono Soesilo back in December last year.
He explained at the time that Aussies would be among 30 countries, including several in Asia and Europe, allowed to enter the destination without forking out the US$25 visa-on-arrival fee.
However, leaders changed their attitude in March this year after Aussies took to Twitter to protest the executions of two Australians.
But now months later, the storm has settled and Indonesia’s Immigration Director General Ronny F Sompie has confirmed to the AAP that Australians are on a new list of 47 countries to be granted visa-free entry.
The new policy will be introduced in October this year, ahead of the originally proposed January 2016 date. This will allow travellers heading to the popular getaway to save a little money over the Christmas holidays.
