Brazil's e-visas are coming & they're SO CHEAP (a quarter of the current cost)

You know the exciting news, you've been reading about it on KarryOn since October this year and have patiently waited (as have we) for confirmed information to come through from government officials.

You know the exciting news, you’ve been reading about it on KarryOn since October this year and have patiently waited (as have we) for confirmed information to come through from government officials.

But just in case you forgot, Brazil is taking its visa system online. Yes, Brazil’s e-visas are coming!

Australians will be among the first permitted to use the system, which will replace the ‘print, write, cheque, post and wait’ process with a simplified, speedy and cheap alternative.

Although the news has been confirmed for around a month, official information has been scarce, but KarryOn FINALLY has its hands on all the answers to your questions, including the one everyone wants to know – how much cheaper will the e-visa be?

Dude, SO MUCH CHEAPER!

So, currently Australian passport holders over the age of 18 are forking out around $216 for a tourist visa – excluding the cost of express postage and bank cheques.

All up, the visa is costing Aussies over $220. That’s a ticket to Carnaval right there!

Once the new e-visa system rolls out (there’s an expected 21 November release date), the entry permit will cost US$40 plus US$5, roughly AU$60 (subject to exchange rate variation).

AU$60.

AU$60.

Just one more time, AU$60.

I’m no mathematician, but that’s a quarter of the original cost (right?)!

Think of all the things you could buy with that $190 saving on Brazil’s e-visas.

Other fun facts you might like to know about the new system:

– There’ll be a link to the e-visa system on the Embassy and Consulate’s websites as soon as it’s up and running.
– Applicants will receive a QR Code and image of the visa, however, they’re advised to print out a copy of the electronic visa ahead of their travel.
– The new online visa is expected to be issued within 72 hours, however, it shouldn’t be treated as an emergency visa.
–  A helpline and email will be available for those who need assistance.
– AND the visa will be valid for two years or less if the passport expires before that.
