Celebrating its new trips to India, Contiki added some major spice and colour to this year’s Splendour In The Grass in Byron Bay with an Indian inspired extravaganza.
In an incredibly colourful Indian themed area complete with DJ, stage, bar and Marigolds a plenty, festival goers were treated to a spectacular array of India-themed workshops and activities throughout the entire weekend at their Marigold Majestic stage, kicking off with the iconic festival’s first ever colour party on Friday afternoon.
“This was our fifth year at Splendour in the Grass and the biggest activation so far. We wanted to showcase an exciting part of what young travellers can experience on the new Eternal India itinerary. Our Marigold Majestic area was inspired by a colourful Bollywood film set and many festival goers reinvigorated with yoga and henna, practiced their finest Bollywood dance moves, and enjoyed the cream of Australia’s electronic music scene after sunset”.

Contiki’s all-inclusive Splendour in the Grass package is always a hit with the 300 campers with this year being no exception as all tickets were sold out in a heartbeat.
And it’s easy to see why…
The much sought after package includes a three day festival ticket, all transport to the festival, breakfasts, spacious twin share tents, a daily private shuttle service between the festival and Byron and most of all – power charging stations! For those all important Social Media moments to make all your mates feel extremely jealous.
Every year Contiki campers are also treated to an exclusive performance from a local Australian artist, and this year up and coming indie folk band Little May gave everyone goose bumps with an acoustic performance on Sunday morning.

The 32,000 strong crowd at Splendour in the Grass who visited Marigold Majestic over the weekend got a glimpse of Contik’s new 12-day Eternal India trip that will whisk young explorers away on a journey through India, from Delhi to Agra to Jaipur and on to Goa, immersing them in the magic and mystery of India with its densely packed cities, stunning natural landscapes, world famous heritage sites and hippy paradise beaches.
Historically a key destination for travel junkies looking to expand their horizons and enjoy a more far flung travel experience, interest into travelling in India has grown considerably recently, 17% growth over the last three years (according to ABS) as the desire for more cultural, out of comfort-zone travel experiences has become the norm for millennials.
Contiki are certainly looking to claim their fair share of the growing Indian market and with events like this it’s highly likely they’ll make it happen.
