Dora the Explorer has been bumped by NYC & Company in favour of four pizza eating, Martial Arts trained, headband sporting talking Turtles.

 

Ahead of the release of the second Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, New York’s official destination marketing organisation has teamed up with Nickelodeon to use the four green icons as the newest Official NYC Family Ambassadors.

Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo are the eighth Family Ambassadors for the organisations, following last year’s Dora and Friends.

As part of the yearlong campaign, the foursome will highlight family-friendly destinations around New York City and help build on the 17.5 million family visitors that travelled to the city last year.

The Official NYC Family Ambassador campaign will be promoted through out-of-home media in the five boroughs, Boston, Chicago, and 23 shopping malls in America; social media engagement using the hashtag #nycgofamily; TV commercials running in NYC taxicabs; and additional activations throughout the year.

Families visiting NYC during the summer can take advantage of seasonal events including SummerStage Kids, Big Apple Barbecue Block Party, Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks, the US Open Tennis Championships and more. In addition, free and low-cost outdoor activities in NYC’s parks, along NYC’s waterfronts and beyond add to the attractiveness of visiting NYC during the summer.
