Some get pissed ’till they pass out, others dance until they can no longer stand. There are those who wait for hours to see the sky light up in fireworks at New Year’s Eve and then there are those who sleep through.

There’s an endless number of ways to ring in the New Year, but most unique option would be to hop on board a flight for a New Year’s Eve party to Antarctica.

Yes, a one-way flight to witness glaciers and icebergs as the clock strikes midnight.

The special flights are operated by Antarctica Flights, who charter a Qantas plane and take hundreds of party-goers on a 14-hour journey from Melbourne to the coldest part in the world and back.

Although the plane doesn’t touch down, flyers are able to see the glaciers and lunar landscapes at midnight while a four piece jazz band plays live in the cabin.

Additionally, they get to indulge in an all-inclusive food and beverage, which means all-you-can-drink alcohol!

Antarctica specialists Ian Allison and Peter Attard, are also on board to entertain guests with tales of their endeavours to the white wonderland as they glide as low as 10,000 feet above the most southerly tip of the globe.
