Justin Trudeau, the relatable leader who is active in assisting refugees, gaining equality for women, promoting gay rights and can carry a baby with one hand, has had a huge impact on Canada’s tourism sector.

According to figures released by Cheapflights.com.au, flight search for Canada has almost doubled (95 percent) since Trudeau was sworn in as Prime Minister two years ago.

Looks like he’s earned more than just Canada’s trust.

While Trudeau may have exposed more travellers to the beauty of Canada, Cheapflights Australia & New Zealand’s Regional Sales Manager, Nathan Graham says he’s not the only reason they’re keen to visit.

Graham said search data confirmed there’s also interest among Aussies to take part in Canada’s fast approaching 150th anniversary celebrations as well as September’s Invictus Games.

Latest research also revealed Vancouver to be a preferred city for Aussie travellers as the “cheapest entry point”, while Toronto is rising up the ranks where tourists are hiking through Crothers Woods, visiting the Art Gallery of Ontario and filling up at the city’s ‘Food Truck Frenzy’.
