Student, youth and budget travel organisation, STA Travel, has announced a new partnership with Dubai Tourism to encourage more youngeons to travel to the desert destination.

The partnership comes after an increase in demand from Australians looking to experience the culture, food and architecture in Dubai.

According to the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, a total of 13.2 million tourists visited Dubai in 2014.

This was an 8.2 percent increase on the prior year and significantly higher than the global average of 4.7 percent.

In addition to working together to promote the destination, one STA Travel agent has been given the opportunity to experience the destination first hand as the recipient of the inaugural Dubai Tourism Innovation Award.

The award was launched at STA Travel’s Annual Awards night, which this year will be sponsored by Dubai Tourism.

The all-expenses trip to Dubai will see the employer take part in activities that Dubai is famous for: board safaris, sky diving, shopping in its world class malls, eating out and enjoying the vibrant night life.

The awards night was themed ‘Arabian Nights’ to highlight the partnership and Andrea Robinson, STA Travel’s Product Trading & Marketing Director said the night was a credit to the ongoing relationship between STA Travel and Dubai Tourism.

“No longer do Aussies consider Dubai simply a stopover destination, it has become a hub for entertainment and adventure, two of the things that our travellers love most.”
