Oh, you want to take a photo with Mickey Mouse using the selfie stick? Well you can’t. Disney has officially banned the lengthy photo-taking gadget from its parks.

To be honest we think it is a very smart move.

The company has confirmed to BBC News that the gadgets, which were formerly prohibited on rides, are now completely banned from all its theme parks.

A spokesperson said Disney is asking travellers to leave them at the hotel or in lockers because of growing safety concerns.

Don’t worry, you can still take a selfie with Mickey like this.

In this case, the fears are that the sticks may cause injury to fellow park visitors or even Disney characters if they’re accidentally struck with one.

It also poses a safety risk on rides as it could come in contact with other carriages or mechanisms.

The ban officially comes into effect in the US today. It will be followed by Paris and Hong Kong tomorrow.

Visitors will be asked to leave their sticks in lockers and collect them after their visit.
