Japan backs Qantas with a new campaign

Qantas delivers the flights and Japan’s tourism leaders promise to deliver the travellers with a new marketing campaign targeting the people of Victoria.

Unveiled today to coincide with the launch the Flying Kangaroo’s new direct flights from Melbourne to Narita, Japan National Tourism Organization’s (JNTO) new radio and digital campaign aims to generate mass awareness of the new route while also showcasing the destination.

The campaign, which goes live from tomorrow, will be heard by Melbourne Radio station Fox 101.9 FM listeners as well as those who access JNTO’s own online channels.

Listeners will be asked to share their love of Japan in order to be in the running to WIN a trip for two people.

From cherry blossom season to traditional tea ceremonies, from sushi trains to sumo wrestling, the campaign will identify the top Japanese experiences and drawcards for Victorian audiences.

According to JNTO Executive Director, Mariko Tatsumi, Japan continues to attract Australians in record numbers and they’re visiting the country “like never before”.

“[They’re] lured by the prospect of experiencing a myriad of uniquely Japanese adventures year-round.”

This year, Japan has welcomed a 21.3 percent increase in visitor numbers each month, that’s in addition to the 24.3 percent rise in arrivals in 2015.

“Qantas adding a new route for Melbourne can only help drive demand, which we feel is definitely something worth supporting and celebrating,” she added.

“The mix of modern, eclectic Japan with tradition and heritage is very attractive for Australians seeking an authentic holiday, very different from Australia.

“We are looking forward to hearing which experiences are favourites for the Australian public.”

Earlier this year, a group of Travel Agents from Australia were divided and taken to Japan to experience two sides of the country. Read about their experiences by clicking here, or learn how you and your clients can experience Traditional Japan the non-traditional way by clicking here.
