If you’re expecting Ryan Gosling to be the reason you walk out of Hollywood’s newest musical, La La Land, flustered then you’d be right but also a little wrong.

The movie, swinging into Australian cinemas on Boxing Day, follows Gosling and Emma Stone’s characters on a charming and incredibly romantic journey where ones dreams either become a reality or live out in the unattainable world of imagination.

You’ll smile, you’ll cry and you’ll be amazed by the creativity, but it’s the film’s third main character that will leave you with all them “I want it so bad” feels.

Her name, Los Angeles.

You’ve surely met her before, in life or in the countless other movies she’s appeared in over the years (centuries even), but La La Land will re-introduce you to her in a completely unique way that’ll have you desperately longing to visit.

Some 40 locations across the city are featured throughout the film, which Discover Los Angeles’ Chief Marketing Officer, Don Skeoch, told KarryOn, serve to showcase L.A.’s modernity and diversity.

Viewers will yearn for a walk through Griffith Park or the Grand Market Central, wish for their own romantic dance in the Observatory and even crave the chance to sing a beautiful yet heartbreaking song on Hermosa Pier.

Then there’s the costumes, set design, architecture and music history that’ll have moviegoers wanting to dip into the technicolour and glamour of the golden era of Hollywood.

“In La La Land, the city may be the film’s biggest star.”

“The film is visually arresting and depicts the endless skies and magic of modern-day L.A.

“We believe fans will become inspired by what they see and want to visit and learn about the iconic locations, more than 40 of which are featured in the film.”

According to Skeoch, some 1.5 million people travel to L.A. every year with a primary focus on visiting places seen in television and film. The expectation of La La Land capturing more of these visitors is so high that Discover Los Angeles has launched a new guide to help visitors organise their own La La Land tour right here.

Skeoch believes the film could even spark a new selfie trend whereby people share their La La Land-themed selfies on social media.

“We’re sure to see some La La Land-themed selfie shots on Instagram coming from Aussie travellers who start to explore these L.A.’s neighbourhoods including Downtown L.A, Hermosa Beach, The Valley and the Hollywood Hills,” he added.
