Arrivals grow, an NTIA Nomination and an Industry Roadshow announcement. Two thrilling bits of news recently for the Sultanate of Oman Tourism office, Australia and New Zealand.

Firstly, official arrival figures for 2014 confirmed exceptional growth in arrivals from these markets with Australian visitor numbers up 9% on the year prior, and a tremendous 17% increase from New Zealand.

This was followed swiftly with news that the office had been received a prestigious National travel Industry Award nomination for Best Tourist Office – International.

Country Manager Australia & New Zealand, Mona Tannous, affirmed, “We’re absolutely delighted by both bits of news because they are interconnected. We strive to engage the trade at all levels to increase the knowledge agents need to develop the confidence to talk about and, even more importantly, sell Oman to their clients. Our online training modules have been extremely popular. As have our eye-opening Oman famils, and our participation in travel expos and events.

“Working together, we’ve positioned Oman at the top of consumer bucket lists and, as these numbers show, travellers are responding. We often refer to Oman as the best-kept secret of Arabia, but it’s becoming increasingly clear that the secret is out, and we owe a debt of gratitude to the trade for that. And the NTIA nomination? Well, it’s no secret that’s the icing on the cake.”

Ms Tannous continued with some news of her own, “We’re excited to announce that we’ll have an opportunity to express our gratitude to the industry later this year with a series of Oman Roadshows – our first in 5 years. More details to come!”
