Australia’s tourist bureau has launched a new, light-hearted campaign aiming to attract millennials to the land by delivering “the good news the world needs”.

In case you didn’t catch it, the new campaign is actually a daily news program called ‘Aussie News Today’, which will air straight to the world via social media.

Three Aussie celebs have been recruited to host the tongue-in-cheek series by reporting on heart warming news stories that you definitely won’t see or hear anywhere else on the globe.

For example, Wallabies rugby union star Nick Cummins (aka ‘The Honey Badger’) may one day report on selfies with quokkas, while TV presenter Teigan Nash may discuss crocodile cage dives and former Home and Away actor Lincoln Lewis could investigate tuna throwing competitions.

Tourism Australia’s Managing Director John O’Sullivan said Australia has “many great stories to share” and each is a great reason to visit.

“We plan to put a smile on young people’s faces with Aussie News Today, by serving up fun, sometimes irreverent and uplifting news stories of daily life Down Under.”

According to Tourism Australia’s latest figures, youth travellers make up 25 percent of all international visitors and contribute 46 percent of visitor spend.
