Tourism is on the rise to... Vietnam

Aussies are increasingly becoming a vital market for Vietnam’s tourism industry, according to Australian-based tour operator, McLachlan Tours.

Latest Vietnam Tourism figures show around 228,493 Australians travelled to the destination in the nine months to September 2015.

September was the biggest month for Aussie arrivals, with some 23,151 Aussies visiting the destination – up six percent on the same month in 2014 and up 6.6 percent on August this year.

McLachlan Tours, which specialises in historical tours to the destination, says it has noticed a huge leap in the number of Aussies keen to visit Vietnam.

The tour operator said it saw a 600 percent spike in travel bookings to the region – a figure that’s expected to continue growing as the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan approaches.

“Vietnam is one of the most vibrant destinations in Southeast Asia, and this important war-time anniversary… provides an incentive for travellers to plan trips to the ‘land of the Blue Dragon’ in 2016.”

To commemorate the special anniversary, McLachlan Tours is operating special Vietnam itineraries which include tours of the Cu Chi tunnels and the Long Tang battle site.

In addition to experiencing the historical battlefields, guests will also be able to explore Vietnam’s incredible food and culture during a Ha Long Bay cruise and visits to floating villages and traditional artisan markets.
