Air Vanuatu may have just discovered the secret to helping passengers fall asleep on flights a lot sooner, and it’s surprisingly simple.

According to local Manager of Commercial, Paul Forbes, flights attendants have reported a shift in guest behaviour over the last four months, since the airline rolled out its Dreamliner on flights from Sydney.

Speaking at the Vanuatu Roadshow in Sydney last night, Paul Forbes (Manager Commercial, Australia) said crew have noticed that the Boeing 737-800 is really bringing the ‘Dreams’ onboard, thanks to wider economy seats and their leather covering that are putting passengers to sleep a lot sooner than before.

“The seats are wider in economy and they’re covered in leather. Since introducing them our flight attendants have reported that passengers are falling asleep quicker.”

Launched on 3 February 2016, the aircraft flies on the Sydney-Port Vila route six times weekly. Its economy seating has a pitch of 31-inches, which is noticeable larger than the previous aircraft.

The Boeing features a spacious ‘Sky Interior’ and offers guests two classes including eight Business Class seats and 162 in Economy.

Forbes said the carrier prides itself on inclusions, saying once passengers are on board “they can leave their wallet in the pocket”.

Among the free inclusions are baggage of up to 30 kilograms, five course meals in Business and canapes in Economy. There’s also two choices in entertainment – the drop down LCD wide screens or streamed Wi-Fi entertainment.

One of the other benefits of flying with Air Vanuatu is that guests can book a flight from Sydney to Santo via Port Vila, clearing customs in Santo.
