Emirates adjusts seats from Perth

Emirates is adding capacity and taking a little away on flights between Dubai and Western Australia.

A little more than a month out from launching its first jumbo jet to Perth, Emirates says it will introduce more capacity on services between Dubai and Western Australia by replacing the aircraft on its evening daily flight.

The first A380 is scheduled to fly into Perth on 1 May on flight EK420/421.

The aircraft will replace the Boeing 777-300ER, which is currently being used on the flight number.

The 777-300ER will replace the Boeing 777-200 on evening flights between Perth and Dubai.

However, from July, the airline is also planning to add additional capacity on flight EK424/425 by replacing the Boeing 777-200 with the Boeing 777-300ER.

The addition of these two aircraft on the morning and late evening departures will provide an additional 229 seats on those two peak-time flights to Dubai.

However, in line with bigger aircraft, the airline has decided to remove its third daily flight between Perth and Dubai from 6 July.

Flight EK423 usually departs in the afternoon and returns from Dubai to Perth on EK22.

Affected passengers booked on EK422/423 after this date will be advised of the schedule change and re-accommodated on other Emirates services.

Divisional Senior Vice President Commercial Operations East, Barry Brown said the airline is providing ‘optimum level’ of capacity for guests travelling during the morning and evening.

“In making the decision to suspend EK422/423 Emirates considered the needs and preferred travel patterns of the West Australian travelling public.”

In line with the arrival of the A380 later this year, Emirates is also further investing into the market with an expanded lounge at Perth Airport.

Set to open later this year, the lounge will offer increased capacity in order to cater for the passenger numbers that will be travelling on the A380.

The 777-300ER on EK424/425 will offer a three class configuration of 8 First Class, 42 Business and 310 Economy class seats.

The A380 features 14 First Class, 76 Business and 400 Economy class seats as well as Wi-Fi throughout, 2,000 channels of ice in-flight entertainment, access to the world’s only on-board Shower Spas for First Class passengers and the On-Board Lounge where First Class and Business Class passengers can socialise at 40,000 feet.
