Know someone in the hospitality industry in New Zealand that deserves recognition? Why not put their name forward for the 2015 Hotel Industry Awards?

Know someone in the hospitality industry in New Zealand that deserves recognition? Why not put their name forward for the 2015 Hotel Industry Awards?

Call for Entries for the annual hotel industry awards went out this week, with Tourism Industry Association New Zealand (TIA) urging people to celebrate leaders in the ‘valuable sector’ and highlight individuals and hotels around the country.

Entries are being sought for three awards including Hotel Industry Senior Executive of the Year; Hotel Industry Outstanding Young Executive of the Year; and Hotel Industry Environmental Initiative Award, sponsored by The Greenfield.

Conference 3

Winners will be announced at the NZ Hotel Industry Conference in Auckland on 4 June.

“Recognising winners in our hotel sector is an important way of setting a benchmark that others can aspire to.”

Sally Attfield, TIA Hotel Sector Manager

Winners will be announced at the 2015 New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference gala dinner, which will be held at The Langham in Auckland on 4 June.

According to Ms Attfield, having strong hotels operations in New Zealand is vital to reaching domestic and international tourism goals. Currently, the destination is aiming for annual tourism revenue of $41 billion by 2025.

Conference 4

She said the sector is also vital to supporting locals, as it employs some 10,000 staff nationally, with annual revenues of more than $1 billion.

For anyone concerned that the entry process will be difficult, Horwath HTL Director Stephen Hamilton stressed the process is straightforward and he is expecting a good level of entries, given the buoyant mood of many hotels around the country.

“Winning one of these prestigious awards will cap what has been a great summer for many hotels, and will generate plenty of positive publicity, both for the successful individuals and their hotels.”
