By Kate Webster @TravellerKate17 Jan 2017Flight Centre is dropping in this summer to partner with Surfing Queensland as the naming rights partner of the 2017 Flight Centre Burleigh Pro. The travel experts are well familiar with sending travellers to the surfing mecca of the Gold Coast, so it was a natural fit to rip it up with Queensland’s stand-alone World Surf League (WSL) Qualifying Series (QS) event. The Qualifying Series takes place at one of the world’s most iconic waves at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast, running over four days during the Australia Day weekend. Flight Centre Travel Group’s General Manager of Marketing, Darren Wright said “Flight Centre embodies the spirit of surfers travelling to surf the world’s most iconic destinations, including Burleigh infamous Point break with the event offering a perfect platform to convey our company’s DNA and spirit.” The event also opens opportunity for Flight Centre to talk to a wide array of surfers during the event and assist them in the best way possible to build their next dream surf trip. “The Burleigh Pro is a perfect event for the surfers, families and supporters to see what Flight Centre can offer with some fantastic specials to all famous surf destinations around the world. We can look after their every need and take any hassle out of booking their travel so they can concentrate on enjoying the waves.” Flight Centre Travel Group’s General Manager of Marketing, Darren Wright Surfing Queensland’s CEO Adam Yates was also stoked with the partnership, adding “for any avid surfer, travelling and surfing our most desired surf destination are two activities that have historically always gone hand-in-hand, so the alliance between Flight Centre and Surfing Queensland for the 2017 Flight Centre Burleigh Pro was nothing but a natural fit.” This event is one of the largest surfing events sponsored by Flight Centre this year with surfers from all over the world including some world championship tour level surfers and some leading World Qualifying Series surfers likely to take to the water for the event. Flight Centre’s inflatable surfing machine and cash cube will also be deployed to maximise the fun for spectators at the event and give participants the chance to win some Flight Centre travel vouchers to go towards their next surf adventure. Flight Centre has been dropping in on surfing events all over the country lately, working with Surfing Australia. Its boardsports partnership strategy spans all of Australia, with relationships with the major grom series over the summer. The company recently took part in the 30th year of the single fin classic where visitors took part in an inflatable waves and surfboard challenge mixed with a cash cube booth offering chances to win travel vouchers.
