Flight Centre sends Sunrise to Hawaii

Expect an influx of travellers keen to visit Hawaii next week, as an Australian breakfast show heads to the destination with Flight Centre, Hawaii Tourism and Jetstar.

Sunrise’s Kochie, Sam and the rest of the morning crew will use Hawaii’s stunning beaches as the backdrop for their live morning show for the week to showcase the best of the island to Aussie viewers.

The daily broadcast will take place on the beach at the four-star Hilton Hawaiian Village in Honolulu with the weather reports to be broadcast from other parts of the island including Maui and Oahu.

Along with some special guests including G.R.L and Justice Crew, 130 viewers are also going on holiday to experience everything Hawaii has to offer and a Perth couple are even getting married live on air during a broadcast.

Flight Centre’s figures show Hawaii is one the agency group’s most popular holiday spots mainly due to its appeal to families, couples and friends.

The company’s Sue Johnson said Australians love going to Hawaii because it has everything from beaches, shopping, stunning scenery and more.

“And with more direct flights than ever before customers are getting some amazing deals.”

In 2013, 305,063 Australians visited Hawaii – up from 23.4 percent on the prior year.

When Australians visit the island nation, they stay for an average of nine days and spend around $267 daily.

The majority of Australians – 96.8 percent – went to O’ahu, while 21 percent went to Maui.

Hawai’i island was the third popular spot for Australian visitors and Kaua’i received 9.1 percent of Australians.

More than half of visitors were first timers and 50.2 percent were true independent travellers organising their own way around each island.

The Sunrise crew and viewers will leave for Hawaii on 7 March flying Jetstar Airways out of Sydney.

The entire team will stay at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and the 130 viewers will experience some of the island’s signature experiences including a Pearl Harbour Tour, Premier Outlets shopping tour and ‘Big Kahuna’ Luau Party hosted by Sunrise on Mount Tantalus.
