Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort took sides in the State of Origin and it was hilarious!

A popular Fijian resort recently taunted its NSW guests by issuing a hilarious memo in the lead up to Game 2 of the State of Origin series rugby game, telling them that they should stay indoors during the match

The memo, which was penned by the General Manager of the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort, Peter Hopgood – who happens to be a die-hard Maroons fan – advised NSW supporters to stay in their rooms to watch Wednesday night’s game, whilst QLD fans could watch it on the BIG screen near the pool, where entertainment and fun games would ensue.

And to add insult to injury, NSW fans were even promised that tissues would be delivered to their rooms after the match!

Ha!

Of course, the memo was written entirely in jest – at the end of the memo NSW fans were told they could join the rest of the resort guests, of course! – but it just goes to show you that yes, interstate rivalry does extend far beyond our shores, even making its way to plush resorts in the Pacific Ocean – is there ever any escape?!

In the memo, Hopgood also decided to “educate” those unfamiliar with the history of the two teams by casually mentioning that the “Mighty Maroons” had defeated the “Bumbling Blues” in 9 of the 10 last series, and that they were leading the current series 1 to 0.

Well, as we all know now, that Queenslander confidence wasn’t for nothing, with the Maroons winning the match 26 to 16 and hence the series in what was an action packed game. #BetterLuckNextTimeNSW

In any case, what a hilarious stunt to pull on resort guests – we love your work Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort!

The third and final clash between NSW and QLD takes place on July 13.

Earlier this year, Fiji suffered significant flooding and endured a powerful category five cyclone. Luckily, the Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort emerged from the cyclone relatively unscathed…

Which poses the question: Are the cyclone gods Maroons fans or something?!

Was this not the funniest memo ever?
