AccorHotels is making ace moves in Australia, and the latest is appointing Serena Williams as its Official Ambassador in the lead up and during the biggest tennis event Down Under, the Australian Open.

That’s big news for the company because not only will they have a reigning Female Champion promoting the brand around the country, she’s also one of the biggest and most-watched tennis players worldwide.

We’re also pretty excited because… it’s 13-time Grand Slam winner, four-Olympic gold winner and the second highest-paid athlete of 2015, Serena Williams!

The sponsorship kicked off this week and will run until 29 February 2016.

As part of the agreement, Williams will be AccorHotels’ spokesperson in consumer advertisements. She’ll also be the face of the company on billboards, digital assets and social media.

The hotel company’s Asia Pacific CEO and Chairman, Michael Issenberg said the highly celebrated tennis player was selected because of her achievements over the years as well as her ‘grace and personal-style’, which make her a winner on and off the court.

“Serena Williams is an inspirational athlete and role model and we are extremely proud and excited to partner with her on an event of this calibre to further promote both AccorHotels and Australia as an outstanding sporting and travel destination.”

AccorHotels has sponsored the Australian Open for three years now. As part of its tennis arrangement, the company provides information services to Australian Open fans, staff training for the Melbourne Park service hubs and player concierge services.
