The man who flew fun back to the sky, promised to sex-up the cruise industry, and introduced new levels of luxury to airport lounges, is now ready to take on the iconic Strip.

Sir Richard Branson’s hotel brand, Virgin Hotels, is turning up the sin in Las Vegas by acquiring the Hard Rock Cafe and transforming it into a true ‘Virgin’ property.

Renovations on the 23-year-old hotel will commence in the new few months and run through to the end of 2019, during which time, the property will continue to operate under the Hard Rock brand.

Some 1,500 rooms and suites will be completely redesigned, along with various social spaces, while the memorable Hard Rock Cafe giant guitar will be replaced with a giant ‘V’.

Branson said that although the acquired property is “very Virgin”, multi-million dollars changes will ensure it perfectly reflects the brand’s “fun, entertaining, not taking ourselves too seriously” attitude.

“We wouldn’t have just come to Las Vegas unless we could’ve found the property that was very Virgin, and I think that’s what we’ve achieved.”
