1. Flight Centre team up with Tourism NZ to drive more travellers south

Flight Centre Australia has today kicked off a nationwide campaign with Tourism New Zealand to promote self-drive touring through the natural wonders of the South Island.

The large scale advertising campaign will feature across TV, Magazine and Newspapers, Social media and on Flight Centre’s website as well as in-store at all retail outlets.

2. TripAdvisor & Viator treat staff to a new, innovative office

3. Magellan heads to New Zealand for first offshore conference

More than 200 Agents and Suppliers heading to Auckland for Magellan Travel Group’s first ever offshore Conference.

Held at The Hilton Auckland from Wednesday 14 to Friday 16 September, the event comes after the group recorded a year of profit for the eighth consecutive year.

“We’re excited to be heading for New Zealand, our near neighbour and such a fantastic travel destination for Australians and visitors from the world over,” Andrew Macfarlane, Magellan Chief Executive said.

4. INCENTIVE: Sell & win a free cruise holiday

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji is offering Agents and their partners a free cruise holiday aboard the small ship, MV Reef Endeavour, for booking clients on a 3, 4, 7 or 11 night Fiji Cruise.

If agents book a 3 or 4-night cruise for a client, they receive one free night for themselves or their partner sharing an Ocean View Stateroom aboard the MV Reef Endeavour per adult booked.

If agents book a 7 or 11-night cruise for a client, they receive two free nights for themselves or their partner sharing an Ocean View Stateroom aboard the MV Reef Endeavour per adult booked.

5. Vivid injects $110m in NSW economy

Vivid Sydney 2016 injected a phenomenal $110 million of visitor spend into the State’s economy, according to Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events Stuart Ayres.

The decision to run the event for five extra nights this year delivered “phenomenal results”, Ayres said, with spending up 75 percent on the prior year.

“Not only did we smash visitor expenditure, we became Australia’s largest event with 2.31 million attendees experiencing the spectacular Vivid Sydney,” he said.

Around 184,000 of attendees travelled to Sydney specifically for the festival, generating around 621,000 visitor nights.

 

6. S2i appointed PR Agency for British Airways

Sydney based public relations and communications agency, S2i Communications, has been appointed as the PR representative for British Airways in Australia and New Zealand, effective immediately.

As part of the appointment, S21 will handle the airline’s upcoming PR campaigns to get results in the market.

According to Linsey Brown, General Manager at S2i Communications, the agency’s “talented and passionate people, and commitment to creativity, position it an excellent partner for British Airways”.

 

7. $490 return flights to Malaysia

Malaysia Airlines has launched new ‘Explore Asia’ fares, offering Aussies the chance to experience Asia from just $490 return.

The offer is valid until 19 September 2016 for travel until 31 March 2017.

Avid travellers can make use of several flights a day from across the nation to Malaysia, including a double daily service from Sydney and departures from Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Darwin. Transiting at Kuala Lumpur International Airport, passengers will have a seamless connection at the world class hub airport, all whilst taking advantage of a generous checked luggage allowance of 30 kilograms in economy.

 

8. Travel Counsellors experience the iconic sights of Northern India

It was all saris, street food and luxury hotels for this group of Travel Counsellors during a recent India famil.

Covering an area commonly referred to as the Golden Triangle, the group experienced the very best of what India has to offer during the 11-day trip taking in Delhi, Agra, Jaipur and Udaipur.

The group stayed at luxurious properties throughout their trip, while visiting popular sites such as the Taj Mahal.

9. United Airlines brings trivia to Adelaide

United Airlines is continuing its much loved annual trivia nights with a stopover in Adelaide on Wednesday, September 7.

Approximately 100 travel consultants from Adelaide were quizzed on their knowledge of several US destinations including; Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Washington D.C. Further questions focused on United’s new Polaris Business Product as well as other new product offerings from the carrier.

Karin McDonald also from CWT received return tickets to Los Angeles and Las Vegas, packaged with accommodation and other added benefits.

The Adelaide event was sponsored by Los Angeles Tourism & Convention, Las Vegas Convention and Visitors, Travel Nevada and Destination D.C.
