‘Business is running as usual’, is the key message coming from B2B accommodation-only specialist, roomsXML after announcing its merger with getabed.

Speaking to KARRYON, Mark Luckey, Managing Director of roomsXML, described this as “great for the Australian and New Zealand market” because the ethos and attitudes of the companies “match brilliantly” and by coming together they “become the biggest global aggregator in the local market, with an even more comprehensive service and product offering”.

“For Aust and NZ customers its business as usual, just better. Same user interface, same payment channels and same people delivering a great value proposition”.

The joint business will provide significant benefits and scale, improving the product range and delivery to customers. As a result of the merger, they now offer a genuine global business with deep penetration in travel agency space across APAC, the Middle East and Europe.

Under the new structure, Ruchir Bang from roomsXML will become the CEO and Matt Stuart from getabed the Chief Commercial Officer. Mark Luckey remains Managing Director D of the Australia and New Zealand markets.

“We currently are in a very interesting phase within the travel wholesale industry and certainly see a great future if we have the right mix of passionate team, user-focused technology and strong financials, and that’s exactly what both roomsXML and getabed bring to the table.”

Ruchir Bang, roomsXML CEO

“This all started with the vision on where we want to see our businesses in the future and what growth opportunities we can bring to our valued staff members across offices, rather than just seeing if the balance sheet numbers added up.”

“This is a hugely exciting time for both getabed and roomsXML. With the accommodation wholesale market evolving rapidly, we needed to ensure that we remain relevant. Our shared passion, ethos and vision was clear, so merging to become a single entity made complete sense.”

Matt Stuart, getabed Managing Director

“Moving forward, our customers will get the best of both companies, with robust technology, breadth of product and solid 24/7 support. Our travel partners will continue to remain at the heart of everything we do as we are still small enough to remain personal and reactive to their demands.”

roomsXML is an online accommodation wholesaler serving travel agents and tour operators with offices in UAE, India, Australia and USA and has been trading since 2007. It has won numerous industry awards including the Best Hotel Booking Solutions Provider at the World Travel Awards 2017.
