The Flight Centre Travel Academy has teamed up with Torrens University Australia to help educate the travel industry with a new Diploma of Travel and Tourism.

While a recent study showed travel professionals are already too smart for their current gigs, the new Diploma aims to offer practical education and knowledge to deal with the rapidly changing travel environment.

This will be achieved by spending half of the course studying online with Torrens University Australia, and the other half gaining first-hand experience from expert trainers.

According to Torrens University Australia’s Director of Innovation, Flight Centre employees aren’t the only ones who can benefit from the training, as it will have consist of broad business subjects and specific, soft skills employers will seek from future recruits.

“This will allow for graduates to not just be job-ready, they will be highly sought after for their systems knowledge, practical sales experience and unmistakable enthusiasm for travel.”

While the Diploma of Travel and Tourism is a stand-alone qualification, graduating students have an option to fast track their application to the William Blue at Torrens University’s Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management), for which they will receive Recognition of Prior Learning for the Diploma subjects completed.

The Diploma of Travel and Tourism is accredited – and awarded – by Torrens University Australia, with new student intakes each month.
