FLIGHT CENTRE TRAVEL GROUP MOVES INTO QUEBEC WITH NEW ACQUISITION

From Mexico and Thailand to New Zealand and now Canada! Flight Centre Travel Group appears to be on a massive buying spree, having just purchased its fifth new international business in less than two months.

From Mexico and Thailand to New Zealand and now Canada! Flight Centre Travel Group appears to be on a massive buying spree, having just purchased its fifth new international business in less than two months.

The group acquired Les Voyages Laurier du Vallon (LDV), a privately owned travel business with over 100 employees spread across six locations in Quebec City and one location in Montreal.

As one of the largest travel agencies in the Quebec province, the acquisition will not only bolster the Group’s presence in North America but strengthen its business in Canada’s second largest city where Flight Centre Travel Group was previously under-represented.

Graham 'Skroo' Turner, CEO Flight Centre Travel Group Limited

According to Managing Director, Graham Turner, the Group’s growth in Quebec has, up until now, been “constrained” due to challenges posed by local guidelines relating to the French language.

“By working with LDV, we will be able to leverage the business’s local expertise, experience and linguistic capabilities to grow our presence in Canada’s second largest market, which is a major corporate hub and home to a large and active leisure travel population.”

LDV’s acquisition strengthens Flight Centre’s presence in eight Canadian provinces (British Columbia, Alberta, Ontario, Nova Scotia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Newfoundland and Quebec) while also complimenting the Group’s USA-based business and its recent purchases in Mexico and Argentina.

Turner said the leisure and corporate business will also benefit from the arrangement, as it will have access to Flight Centre’s support, product suite, marketing expertise and supplier relationships.
